Maxie Tulip Peanut

These kitty girls are why I get up in the morning. Also, why I am never alone in the bathroom….

Maxie–senior cat, AKA She Who Must Be Obeyed. She has the biggest purr and loves being carried around and snuggled. She came with me from Maui and knows things no one else does….
Tulip–the middle cat, the peacekeeper, the care-giver, the one who gets into everything, follows me around, and leaves her favorite toy at the door for me to find when I come home. She is my angel.
Peanut–the newest addition, who is shy but getting braver all the time. She was my mom’s kitty but now adores having a big family. Peanut LOVES her food, and her sisters’ food, and my food….

Let’s see, what do the kitty girls want on their page?

Most important—please, please, please keep your cats INSIDE at all times.  In other places, it may be safe to let cats wander outside unsupervised.  But, here in Central Texas–including Lakeway–there are many deadly predators.  Coyotes and various large birds of prey (hawks and owls) will attack and kill cats day and night.  (Social media is full of sad posts about lost kitties never seen again, as well as of coyote and hawk sightings—THERE IS A CONNECTION, people!)  We also have poisonous snakes, as well as a variety of other wildlife that will harm a kitten or adult cat.  In addition, some dogs will attack cats, residents may use poisonous pest control, wandering cats pick up parasites and fatal diseases, they may get lost or be taken, and vehicles are always a deadly threat.  If you love your cat, keep it inside.  Cats do NOT need to be allowed outside to be fulfilled.  There are many ways to enrich the life of an indoor-only cat (interactive toys, puzzle cubes, perches in front of a window looking out on a bird feeder, special videos, another cat, their own outside area—called a catio—fully screened/fenced for security, and on and on), so that kitty shares a safe and long life with you that is happy and fulfilled.

Also, please MICROCHIP your cats! Even if your kitty is 100% indoors, accidents happen. And, while a tag on a safety collar is a great idea, the collar can get pulled off, leaving your precious kitty lost without ID. BUT–you do have to keep the microchip data updated, so remember to call the host company when you move or change phone numbers.

My cats LOVE Chewy’s.  So do I—endless cat-centric online shopping opportunities, with no driving, no empty shelves or short expiration dates, and no hauling heavy cat food or leaky bags of litter in and out of my car.  Food, treats, toys, litter, pet furniture, and more.   Free shipping on orders of $49 and up.  You can even put repeat items on convenient auto-ship.  https://www.chewy.com/

Need help understanding your cat?  As a besotted cat mommy, I often turn to cat expert Pam Johnson-Bennett.  She has written many books, and she has amazing insight into behavioral issues including litter box issues.  Amazon sells her books; Lake Travis Community Library has some, as well.  Here is a link to her website— https://www.catbehaviorassociates.com/ This page has free advice/info on litter box problems– https://www.catbehaviorassociates.com/category/litter-box-101/

Click here daily to provide free kibble to needy cats.  Greater Good’s Animal Rescue Site also offers heart-warming pet stories, fun shopping opportunities, and a simple way to donate when a tragedy endangers animals. https://theanimalrescuesite.greatergood.com/clickToGive/ars/home

Click here daily, as well.  FreeKibble donates catfood, dogfood and litter to shelters.  Their latest addition is a trivia game that benefits ocean clean-up.  All free to play and click. https://www.freekibble.com

Ooh, this is fun….  This website features cats purring, with the occasional meow.  There are settings to personalize what you hear.   All free.  The idea is that purring is very calming to humans and may well have healing attributes.  I love it!  Not sure what my 3 actual cats think about it…. https://purrli.com/
